Lovely Lorton field | Burke, VA Family Photographer

Have you ever driven around, eyed a field, and immediately turn off the road to check it out? No? I do it all the time! And by “field” I mean a semi-maintained open piece of land. Just to clarify.

This family just moved to the Springfield/Alexandria area and contacted me BEFORE they moved. Impressive to say the least. This momma is ON IT

I could tell I liked them just by reading their answers to my family questionnaire. She also “warned” me on the phone that her husband doesn’t like having his photos taken. I’m glad she mentioned it because I came to the session ready to make dad feel relaxed. I usually hug mom as we’ve chatted and probably have been texting prior to the session. We basically know each other already.

But dad and I haven’t spoken so it’s a casual handshake before I move onto introducing myself to the kids. As we walked to the first spot I asked dad what he liked about the area and he tells me he is into beer. Lucky for me, so is my husband so I know a few good spots around here. I name a few and we chat about beer. He can tell I know a LITTLE BIT of what I’m talking. Score. I just got dad to loosen up a bit. And I mean, just LOOK at their photos. You can’t tell at all that dad started this session not really super excited about it.
